Baru: NNPC has 2bn litres of petrol for end-of-year festivities

Maikanti Baru, general managing director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), says the corporation has over two billion litres of premium motor spirit (PMS) for end-of-year festivities.

Baru said this after the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) conferred on him the honour of a “special marshal”.

The GMD said the provision of adequate petroleum products would ease transportation and also make “our roads safer for motorists”.

He said consumers would have no need to hoard petroleum products in jerry cans which may pose as a hazard to them.

“As we speak, NNPC has over two billion litres of petrol and we want to sustain this level from now on till the end of the year and beyond,” Baru said.

“This volume would give the country product sufficiency of about 60 days, well above the standard 30 days sufficiency threshold.”

The GMD said his investiture was “an eloquent testament of the corporation’s long standing commitment to road safety and support for the FRSC.”
