Organisers say 20 male and female teams from Nigeria and Togo will compete at the 2022 Sam Oguche Energy Bullet Basketball Championship.

The tournament is scheduled to hold at the National Stadium, Lagos from November 1 to 6.

Speaking on Monday, Sam Oguche, the former Nigeria international guard who is the sponsor of the annual basketball event, said he is committed to complementing efforts by the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) as well as giving back to society.

“I am delighted to once again expand the next championship to accommodate more teams and I believe there would be an increase in the coming years,” the former Islanders Basketball Club star said.

Oguche, who would be remembered as a star guard with the Lagos Islanders, added that the latest expansion aimed to entrench the championship among the major basketball stakeholders in Nigeria and the west African subregion.

The organisers also promised a hitch-free championship where prizes for teams and individuals would be at stake, in addition to “positive side attractions”.

Some of the clubs listed for the week-long competition include Ebun Comets, MO Heat, Raptors, First Bank, MFM, and Sunshine Angels, among others.
