Bassey Otu offers tax holidays to investors to boost tourism in Cross River

Bassey Otu, governor of Cross River, says his administration will grant tax holidays to global investors willing to invest in the state.

Otu made the commitment on Friday, at a breakfast meeting with top global chief executive officers (CEOs) in Lagos.

According to a statement by Emmanuel Ogbeche, the state’s chief press secretary, the meeting was aimed at enhancing the tourism fortunes of the state.

Speaking at the gathering, the governor said the state was open for investors, adding that businesses would be given all the support needed by the state government including tax holidays.

“Your presence here speaks volumes of your confidence and support for my administration. I don’t take that for granted at all,” Otu said.

“For those of you willing to do business in Cross River state, we assure you of every incentive and support to do business including tax holidays and lots more.

“For all the banks, manufacturers, and every other business willing to come to our state, we assure you of great opportunities to make good fortunes in terms of fantastic government policy, regulations, and conducive business environment.”

Otu also said his administration is determined to create an enabling environment for all businesses to thrive.

On his part, Gabe Onah, chairman of the state’s carnival commission, said the state government is willing to grow the tourism sector.

He, therefore, called on investors to see Cross River as an investment destination of choice.
