This is coming on the heels of the recent supreme court judgment, which declared the caretaker committee running the affairs of local government areas in the country illegal.
A seven-member panel of justices held that state governments have continued to abuse their powers by retaining and using the funds meant for LGAs.
The apex court also ordered the federal government to withhold allocations of LGs governed by unelected officials appointed by the governor.
As a result of the judgment, Delta, Kogi, Adamawa, and Imo states have raced to fix and conduct their LG polls.
