Bauchi has spoken loudly, says rep-elect on Bala Mohammed’s victory

Hassan Sokodabo, house of representatives member-elect for Abuja-south constituency, says the people of Bauchi made their choice clear in electing Bala Mohammed as governor.

Mohammed, a former minister of the federal capital territory, polled 515,113 votes to defeat Mohammed Abubakar, the incumbent governor, who scored 500,625 votes in the election.

Congratulating Mohammed who ran under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sokodabo said he is happy that victory was not denied.

“This is to congratulate our able former FCT Minister, Senator Bala Mohammed (Kauran Bauchi) on his victory at the Bauchi State governorship election. Indeed, victory delayed is not victory denied,” Sokodabo said.

“The people of Bauchi State have spoken loudly. On behalf of my humble self and supporters here in Abuja South Federal Constituency, I extend my message of congratulations to Senator Bala Mohammed, former FCT Minister and Governor-elect of Bauchi State.”

In his acceptance speech, Mohammed said the people voted him in because they did not want to “leave the destiny of our State in the hands of those who lack the vision, the motivation, and the capacity to drive the change we desperately need.”

“We are determined to launch a pro-business, pro-market agricultural and economic revolution within four years. My aim is to win over majority of the people of Bauchi State to believe in our new ideas and to believe in ourselves. It is my desire to rapidly pull Bauchi State into 21stcentury, and I see a world of opportunities and possibilities waiting for us to explore through pragmatic innovations,” Mohammed said.
