When Kevin Chuwang Pam was announced as the Nigerian representative for the fourth season of the Big Brother Africa (BBA) show, a lot of Nigerians were disappointed. We were certain we would not survive the first week. What with the short black boy from Jos who wasn’t even buff enough to woo the ladies! But what this man possessed was not in his physical looks.
His smile was his first selling point. On getting to the house, his smile lit up the place immediately. He would approach everyone from his or her various countries and make friends with them, make them smile. It made them feel comfortable and relaxed regardless of the fierce competition of the next 90 days.
He was fat but equally energetic. His body structure never deterred him from what he wanted to do. He was always up and about the place. During activities, he was always leading, giving ideas, bouncing up and down. His energy was contagious. His team nearly won all their challenges, most of them at least. He was always eager to participate in house games, never in fights.
His charm radiated from the men to the ladies. He shared equal amount of time with them but more with the ladies until one broad caught his eye. The Tanzanian beauty had all his attention henceforth. However, Elizabeth Gupta, the 23-year-old Tanzanian actress, became the seventeenth housemate to be evicted from the House on Day 63 and that tore the Nigerian lover boy apart.

But it didn’t deter him. In fact, it motivated him. He promised he would win the prize and come for her after. This made Africans more interested in this fellow and they continued voting to keep him in to see what he would do now that the one thing he acquired had been taken away from him. Would he fall for another?

He never did. He continued to remain close friends to the other ladies, always making them feel warm and comfortable and he was at par with the guys too. No other girl caught his eye and he never engaged in any form of sexual act. The much he ever did was smooch Elizabeth.
With the charms and the vibrant personality as well as his composure, Africans were wowed every week and this saw him through till the final stage where he was pronounced winner of the show in 2009, becoming the first Nigerian to achieve the feat.
True to his words and the lover boy he was, he engaged the Elizabeth when he proposed to her on the stage at an event in Port Harcourt in 2010 and the two married on February 26, 2011 in Abuja, Nigeria. On August 16, 2011, the couple welcomed daughter, Malaika Savannah Chuwang Pam. It was the first real Big Brother Africa true love story.
Initially an entertainer and failed rapper, his life after Big Brother has been an interesting one. After winning the whooping sum of $200, 000, he started his own recording company, Down2Earth Entertainment, becoming its chief executive officer. He has put up talent shows to scout for talents that would be managed by his company in his hometown, Jos. He runs an NGO, Naija Pikin, as well and does entertainment consultancy.
