BBA COUNTDOWN 5: How Uti teased and won with his antics

Nigerian model, actor and TV presenter, Uti Nwachukwu known for his constant teasing of the girls in the house, became the winner of Big Brother Africa All Stars on October 17, 2010 with eight country votes.

In the regular fashion of Big Brother to spice things up, former housemates from different seasons were brought back to the house and given yet another opportunity to stardom and the money. This gave Uti Nwachukwu, the Nigerian representative for the BBA 3, another chance, which he maximised by winning after 91 days in the house.

Often times, Uti got under the skin of the other housemates for his constantly rude but playful remarks. He naturally did not find his behaviour offensive because he had gotten used to bonding under such circumstances. He saw it as what a Nigerian man would call normal yabbing, which should not be taken to heart. But not all his housemates understood that, and he was consequently nominated for eviction on a number of occasions. However, Africa found him interesting and saved him the three times, he was up for eviction.

Uti later became particularly close to fellow housemate, Sheila, but both denied having anything going. Many viewers even thought their friendly flirtation could lead to the altar, even though Sheila had been quite the wild child who went from flirting and kissing Hannington to kissing fellow ladies, Tatiana and Sheila.

Although, Sheila and Meryl covered themselves with a blanket, the sound of lips engaged in a sensual kiss was heard, making one to question their sexual preferences, especially Sheila’s. Meryl and Mwisho were already an item and they later got engaged in the house, while Sheila and Uti continued with their flirtatious friendship.

While still at the house, Uti received a call from his mother about his father’s death, which weighed on him. He was asked if he wanted to leave the game but he chose to stride on. He stayed on and eventually won after a very close call with Munya, who had seven country votes –

one short of Uti’s eight country votes.

He had previously released some music singles and had worked as a model before BBA, but he is now the host of MNET’s Jara with comedienne, Helen Paul. He is as well host of singing talent show, Star the Winner Is, sponsored by premium beer brand, Star Lager.

Uti has been featured in a couple of Nollywood movies alongside notable actors. He has also been romantically linked to singer, Saeon.
