The Adamawa government has lifted the suspension imposed on the activities of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in the state.
In a statement by Humwashi Wonosikou, the governor’s spokesperson, all NGOs in the state can continue to operate and engage in humanitarian by following laws and regulations.
Before the governorship election initially scheduled to hold on March 11, Ahmadu Fintiri, the governor of Adamawa, suspended the activities of NGOs over alleged aiding of vote-buying during elections.
The governorship elections across 28 states were later held on March 18.

Fintiri had said the NGOs were getting involved in politics and also misleading the electorate.
“The Adamawa state government has lifted the earlier suspension on the activities of non-governmental organisations in the state which was imposed during the recent election period,” the statement reads.
“While lifting the suspension, governor Fintiri appreciates their cooperation which has in no small way contributed to the successful conduct of the elections.

“The governor urged them to go about their humanitarian activities according to the rules of engagement to deliver on their mandate.”
