Bello Maru, ex-Zamafara SSG, named as Accord Party’s VP candidate

Bello Bala Maru, former secretary to Zamfara state government, has been named as Accord Party’s vice-presidential candidate.

Maru will serve as running mate in the 2023 elections to Christopher Imumolen who was elected as Accord Party presidential candidate in June.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the party said Maru was picked “after due consultations and realisation of his powerful political clout in the northern leadership hemisphere”.

Muhammad Nalado, national chairman of the party, said Imumolen/Maru’s ticket is a “south/north synergy in the urgency of now when Nigeria must attain a solid form through inter region inclusiveness”.

Nalado said he is confident the party will win the presidential election, adding that “it was with Accord that Nigeria gained independence and produced nationalists”.

Nalado asked Nigerians to vote for the party because its presidential candidate is a youth with an older running mate.

In his remarks, Maru said he was picked as the party’s vice-presidential candidate following due consultations.

He said he is “keen about good governance having hailed from a state and region grossly terrorised and afflicted by insecurity”.
