David Parradang, comptroller-general of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), has urged Nigerians seeking employment into the service to disregard money-for-job offers by individuals, saying they are scams.
Parradang said many criminal elements were currently using fake websites and social media accounts to defraud unsuspecting members of the public seeking enlistment into the NIS.
He said the fraudsters use the fake sites to pose as the comptroller-general and the public relations officer (PRO) of the service, to offer job placements to unsuspecting members of the public.
“The comptroller-general wishes to advise members of the public to disregard any such money-for-job offers on the fake website and social media platforms,” read a statement, which Chukwuemeka Obua, PRO, made available to journalists on Saturday.

The statement said the ongoing recruitment being handled by the presidential committee set up to assist in the conduct of 2015 immigration recruitment exercise would be fair and transparent.
Interested persons were advised to visit the www.fedcivilservice.gov.ng, which is the website address for the recruitment and www.immigration.gov.ng, the official website of the NIS, for more information.
On February 16, the federal government announced its decision to conduct fresh recruitment for new personnel into the service.

The development comes about a year after several lives were lost and many people sustained injuries during a botched NIS recruitment exercise.
