BHM, Allison to host dialogue on sustainable growth in Africa at UNGA 79

Black House Media (BHM), a communications services company in Africa, says it will host a breakfast event to discuss Africa’s path to sustainable growth and positive social change.

According to a statement on Thursday, the event, tagged, ‘Africa Breakfast Convos’, would hold in partnership with Allison, a global communications firm.

The companies said the conference would take place at the World Trade Center, during the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA79).

The firms said the event “will gather” prominent leaders from Africa’s business and public sectors, including top figures from telecommunications, finance, technology, and entertainment.

Speaking on the rationale for the meeting, the organisers said Africa has a young population, with 70 percent of people in sub-Saharan Africa under 30; adding that by 2030, one in five people in the world will be African.

“This is a critical moment for Africa’s development, with growing investment and expansion in sectors like technology and renewable energy,” the statement reads.

Claudine Moore, managing director for Africa at Allison, described the event as a significant opportunity.

“The ‘Africa Breakfast Convos’ represents a unique opportunity to bring together influential voices and decision-makers from across Africa and beyond,” Moore said.

“We’re excited to again facilitate meaningful dialogue during the United Nations General Assembly when Africa is a focus and we are collectively working towards collaboration driving sustainable growth and social impact across the continent.”

On his part, Femi Falodun, executive director at BHM, said the event would showcase the vast opportunities in Africa.

Falodun said the breakfast event underscores Africa’s position as a land of opportunity for investment and collaboration.

“By showcasing the continent’s dynamism and potential, we aim to foster partnerships that will contribute to shared prosperity and sustainable development,” he said.

The UNGA 79 is expected to begin on September 10 with the theme, ‘Leaving No One Behind: Acting Together for the Advancement of Peace, Sustainable Development, and Human Dignity for Present and Future Generations’.

Both communication firms said the event fits with the theme by focusing on Africa’s potential to lead global progress.

It shows how businesses can help in supporting sustainable development, the companies said.
