Birniwa residents get motorised bore holes

Many rural dwellers rely heavily on hand-pumped boreholes

Access to sources of safe drinking water in Birniwa Local Government Area of Jigawa State has improved with the provision of motorised boreholes and surface tanks in Arin-Adam and Keberi communities.

The project, which is an initiative of the council chairman, Malam Muhammad, cost N13.4 m.

According to Muhammad, who was speaking to NAN, the council has expended N4 million on the procurement of equipment for the repair of obsolete and broken hand pumps in the area.

He added that the projects were designed to enhance access to safe drinking water in the area.

In a related development, Muhammad also revealed that the council has spent over N640,000 on transportation of students of the area to their various schools in the state, after their second term vacation.

The chairman urged the communities to protect the amenities provided.
