Adebisi Egbeyemi, the immediate past deputy governor of Ekiti state, is dead.
TheCable understands that Egbeyemi died in the early hours of Saturday at a private hospital in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.
Details of his death were not known as of the time of this report.
He was 79 years old.

Egbeyemi, who was born on May 8, 1944, was a lawyer and politician.
In 2018, Egbeyemi, who was a former chairman of the Ado-Ekiti LGA, was selected by Kayode Fayemi, Ekiti’s former governor, as his running mate.
Fayemi said Egbeyemi was “considered the best suited” for him after meeting with leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

Egbeyemi attended the then University of Ife to study law between 1977 and 1980. He was called to the Nigerian bar in 1981.
He was a youth leader of the defunct Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) between 1979 and 1983, a member of the Ondo state house of assembly in 1983, and was chairman of the Ado-Ekiti local government between 1991 and 1993.
He also served as the state’s commissioner for justice and attorney-general between 2002 and 2003.
The politician took over the deputy’s office from Kolapo Olusola and was succeeded by Monisade Afuye.
