Bode George, a national leader of the Peoples Democratic Party, is expected to visit Ibadan, the Oyo state capital today, to mediate in the rift between, Seyi Makinde, the state governor, and some prominent members of the party.
After ending the eight year rule of the All Progressives Congress in the state through a coalition of the PDP and other parties in the last general election, Makinde has been accused of sidelining some of those who made the coalition worked.
He has also been accused of failing to fulfil the agreements he had with some notable political figures who were part of the coalition, leading to some of them opting to join the APC.
There is a rumour that the APC in the state made an attempt to persuade Makinde to leave the PDP. Although Taiwo Adisa, the governor’s chief press secretary, said such a move was an attestation to the fact that even the APC recognised the work being done by the governor to transform the state.

An aide of the governor, who spoke with TheCable on condition anonymity because he was not authorised to speak on party issues, said George is expected to be in Ibadan on Friday.
He said: “Yes, he is likely to come to Ibadan today.”
When asked of those expected to be at the meeting, the aide said he had no details because the matter is between Makinde, the national chapter of the party and aggrieved PDP members in the state.
