Body found not that of doctor who committed suicide

The body found by the police is not that of Allwell Orji, Adesina Tiamiyu, general manager of the Lagos State Management Emergency Agency (LASEMA), has confirmed to TheCable.

Tiamiyu said two members of Orji’s family and his driver, had confirmed that the body was not that of Orji.

He said it had been taken to the state mortuary for further investigation.

Since Sunday when Orji, a medical doctor, took his life, rescue officials have been trying to recover his corpse.

Fatai Owoseni, commissioner of police in Lagos, was quoted to have said the Marine police at the Onikan end of the lagoon recovered Orji’s body.

But Kehinde Adebayo, spokesman of LASEMA, later said the agency had not confirmed if the body recovered was that of Orji.

Moments after Adebayo’s comment,  Dolapo Badmos, spokeswoman for the zone 2 police command, said the mother of the deceased had said the body was not that of her son.
