A bomb blast on Wednesday night at a motor park in Azare in Bauchi State killed five persons.
Musa Babale, a resident of the area who spoke with AFP, said the blast “shook buildings” and sent locals rushing for shelter.
A statement on the incident issued in Bauchi by the state police command’s PRO, Haruna Mohammed, said 12 others sustained severe injuries.
He said that the incident occurred at about 9.45pm when explosives planted in the park detonated.

The injured were taken to the Federal Medical Centre, Azare, for treatment and the scene of the incident cordoned off.
Haruna said that no arrest had been made yet, but that investigations had commenced on the incident.
No group has claimed responsibility for the blast yet, but Boko Haram will be the immediate prime suspects.

Bauchi state has suffered several attacks throughout the Boko Haram insurgency and the town of Azare had been attacked twice: on December 5, 2011 and December 3, 2012.
