Victor Boniface scored the opener as Bayer Leverkusen were held to a 2-2 draw by Holsten Kiel in their German Bundesliga encounter on Saturday.

The 23-year-old striker scored the opener as Xabi Alonso’s side took a two-goal lead before surrendering to settle for a point.

Boniface netted four minutes into the encounter with a shot from a tight angle for his fourth league goal of the season.

The Akure-born forward’s red-hot form comes days before the Super Eagles of Nigeria’s Africa Cup of Nations AFCON 2025 qualifiers doubleheader with Libya. Boniface is expected to lead the line without injured Victor Osimhen.

Elsewhere, Ademola Lookman provided an assist in Atalanta’s 5-1 demolition of Genoa. The 27-year-old provided the final pass off a team move that ended with Mateo Retegui sliding the winger’s pass into the net for the lead. It was Lookman’s eighth goal contribution for club and country this season. The former Everton man’s impressive shift saw him win all his duels and create six chances- including two big chances.

Also, Maduka Okoye kept a clean sheet for Udinese in the Serie A club’s 1-0 win over Lecce. The shut-out is Okoye’s second in the league and third of the season. Recently recalled to the national team setup after a hiatus, the Udine club’s first-choice goalkeeper has been between the sticks for the side in all seven league matches.
