The Borno state All Progressives Congress (APC) says President Bola Tinubu should keep Vice-President Kashim Shettima as his running mate in the 2027 elections.
The call comes amid speculations that the president may drop Shettima as his running mate ahead of the 2027 elections.
The party made the call during a stakeholders’ meeting held on Sunday at the government house, in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno.
In a communique, Bello Ayuba, party chairman, and Mustapha Loskuri, the secretary, said the party’s stakeholders commended Shettima’s commitment to the mandate of President Tinubu.

“The meeting called on Vice President Shettima to remain loyal to his boss, Mr. President, and continue to serve diligently to promote the laudable policies of Mr. President,” the communique reads.
“The meeting prayed for Mr. President to retain His Excellency Senator Kashim Shettima as his VP for his second term.
“The meeting expressed total and unalloyed loyalty and support to the Federal Government of Nigeria under the able leadership of His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR.

“The meeting also endorsed the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Tinubu Administration. The meeting wished Mr. President and VP God’s guidance and protection and a successful tenure.”
According to the statement, the APC stakeholders also expressed confidence in Babagana Zulum’s administration in Borno and charged him “not to be distracted in his noble campaign of recovering Borno from the shackles of insurgency, terrorism, and criminality”.
Last week, Zulum expressed concerns over the resurgence of Boko Haram attacks and kidnappings across the state.
He said the recent dislodgment of military formations in some LGAs is a “significant setback” in the country’s fight against insurgency.

The governor commended the federal government for the support but called for more efforts, particularly in equipping and deploying technological warfare to counter the attacks in the Sahelian region of Borno.
