ICYMI: There’s nothing like ‘executive governor’ in our constitution, says SGF

Boss Mustapha, secretary to the government of the federation (SGF), says the title “executive governor” is not known to the Nigerian constitution.

He also declared that he should be addressed as “the SGF’.

“I often hear people say executive governor, I say look at the constitution, there is nothing like executive governor. It is governor of a state,” he said.

Mustapha spoke while receiving handover documents from Habibat Lawal, former acting SGF.

He said he did not have superior knowledge over anybody to warrant titles like “Your Excellency”.

Mustapha also said “appellations are banana peels”.

“I will make a passionate appeal. I don’t know where you people get this ‘Your Excellency’ from. Some of the nomenclatures are banana peels,” he said.

“I want to simply be addressed as SGF, please. I don’t claim any superior experience or skills other than the grace of God.”

Mustapha was appointed after the sack of Babachir Lawal.

Lawal’s company was said to have got a suspicious N200 million grass clearing contract in Yobe state.
