Bouqui to star at California’s ‘the Nigerian week’

The management of FGH Centre for African Arts and Culture (FCAAC) has all set for the maiden edition of the Nigerian week in California, United States.

Bouqui, a forerunner in Nigeria’s female rap industry would star at the event, while Walero Ajiwo and a panel of discussants would present folklore, Obalende: A Nation in Motion.

The FCAAC’s Nigerian week is aimed at celebrating the best of Nigerian people, arts and culture annually in Central California.

The theme, “celebrating change”, is to planned to give Nigerians in Central California a sense of pride about the Nigerian cultural heritage, while projecting the positive attributes and values of Nigeria for the appreciation of the American nation.

The premises of Fagbule Glass House 1930 E. Shields Avenue, Fresno will play host to interested Nigerians in the US.

Running through September 28 to October 4, 2015, this maiden edition “shall afford kids and adults an opportunity to identify with the arts, literature, folklores, food, music, dance and distinguished Nigerians in Central Valley”, FCAAC promised in a statement issued by director Steve Fagbule and project consultant Wale Adeduro.

“As part of our vision to promote love for Nigerian arts among Nigerian families, this event will feature the Nigerian Family Arts Competition,” it said.

“This competition will afford Nigerian family units to either showcase the Nigerian artworks, crafts and cultural items they possess or the visual arts skills that the family members possess.

“At the end of the competition, the first three Nigerian families adjudged to possess the best artworks shall be honored during the ‘Central California Distinguished Nigerians Awards Night’ (DNA Night).”

Young Nigerians in the 13-18 years age bracket living in Central California will also participate in the Young Nigerian Arts Competition (YNAC) during the week.
