Jimi Agbaje, governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Saturday’s governorship election, has just called Akinwunmi Ambode, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), on phone to congratulate him on his “success”.
At exactly 6:58pm when Agbaje made the call, the winner of the election had still not been formally declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
But figures released at the collation centre, monitored by TheCable, showed that after 20 local governments, APC had polled 812,394 votes while PDP had received 659,738.
Speaking with the media after the final result was announced, Agbaje dissuaded his supporters from resorting to violence, saying there were other ways of serving the people apart from being governor.
