Aruna Quadri defeated Austria’s Gardos Robert to clinch a back-to-back Nigeria Open Table Tennis Championship at the 2019 edition.
He became the second player to defend the title after Omar Assar of Egypt on Sunday evening. This is also Quadri’s second time of winning the tournament which is in its sixth year.
Going into the game as the favourite, Nigeria’s table tennis superstar defeated Austria’s Gardos Rober after a thrilling six contested sets, 15-13, 11-3, 8-11, 11-6, 10-12, 11-1 (4-2).
The world number 22 qualified for the final after defeating Indian’s Ghosh Soumyajit 11-8, 11-5, 11-4, 8-11, 11-4 (4-1) in an easy semi-final.

Meanwhile, Russia’s Mikhailova Polina claimed the women’s singles final by defeating her fellow counterpart, Noskova Yana in a come-back seven set, 11-6, 11-6, 11-6, 8-11, 3-11, 13-15, 13-15.
