Garbi Akuyam, commissioner of finance in Bauchi state, has resigned, citing “political realities of present day” in Bauchi.
In his resignation letter, Akuyam thanked Mohammed Abubakar, the governor, and the people of Bauchi for giving him the opportunity to serve.
“It is with pains, heavy hearts and deep concern that I write to tender my resignation as Hon. Commissioner of Finance and Member of the Bauchi State Executive Council with effect from Friday, 22nd March, 2019,” the letter read.
“I am compelled to resign my appointment, in view of the recent developments and political realities of present day Bauchi State, as well as dictates of the moment, hence my resolve to honourably relinquish my position as Hon. Commissioner Ministry of Finance and Economic Development and that the decision is from my independent mind.

“During my stay in office as Commissioner for Rural Development and there after Commissioner for Finance for a period of almost two and a half years. I in all honesty enjoyed working with your Excellency, who has always been giving me regard, respect and fatherly advice indeed the gesture is of course reciprocal.
“Therefore it is my privilege and singular honour to most sincerely register my appreciations for the recognition accorded me by your Excellency to serve your Government and the good people of Bauchi State as Commissioner, promising to answer another call to serve my dear State whenever called upon to do that in another capacity as the need may perhaps arise.
“I pray that may the Power of powers (Almighty Allah) continue to guide, guard and protect His Excellency, Government and the good people of Bauchi State. Thanks a lot and God bless.”
