A suicide bomber believed to be a member of Boko Haram on Sunday detonated a bomb at the Timber Market in Gombe, capital of Gombe state, killing and injuring an unspecified number of people.

A witness told TheCable that the blast occurred at about 3pm on Sunday.

Thirty minutes after that attack, a suicide bomber on a motorcycle blew up himself at Gombe Line park in a separate incident, but he was unable to cause the death or injury of anyone else.

“The bomb at the Timber Market was concealed at a corner. We just heard a sudden explosion.,” the source said.

“The attack by a suicide bomber at Jakadafari did not result in any death, so we thank God for that.”

President Goodluck Jonathan is scheduled to visit Gombe on Monday for the presidential campaign rally of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), while Muhammadu Buhari, presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) would also be in the state for similar reason.
