Boko Haram commander shot dead

Abu Imrana, a Boko Haram commander, has been killed in a gun battle with soldiers in Borno state.

A security source disclosed this to TheCable on Monday, saying Imrana is among the insurgents who fell to the superior firepower of the military in the Marte area of Borno state.

Boko Haram renewed its attacks on military formations and north-east communities in recent times.

At least 150 people were killed in attacks across Monguno and Gubio local government areas of Borno last week.

He was also said to have participated in major operations around the Lake Chad region.

The source said he was formerly of the Abubakar Shekau faction of the sect but crossed to the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP).

Some of the military formations he led attacks against are at Garunda and Metele.

His death is no doubt a boost to the fight against insurgency.

  1. Nigerians are tired of this lies up and down. Are every boko haram member commander. Cos today news will be commander killed, another day same commander killed,. Do they have many lives? I can’t understand again o. I just pity our great army’s. Government should stop politicising this innocent army’s life..

  2. If they are very sure that they kill those guys they should show us the picture if not the video of the die body when Boko Haram they show us these being killed they why is that when Nigera Forceman kill they dont show there own.

  3. This is a lie, how many times did you killed Shekau, more than 5 times if I can recall. Shekau still appears on a fresh video after then but there’s no apology from Buratai and co. If you could help and continue the gunshots in Aso Villa, that’ll never concern us but the life of innocent junior army officers and bloody civilians matter a lot.

  4. Killing the boko haram commander is a welcome developmen , but I want to know if the main commander Shekau has also been killed? Is he too powerful for the Army?
