Boko Haram bombs Maiduguri market

A female suicide bomber suspected to be a member of the Boko Haram sect struck inside a popular market in Maiduguri, capital of Borno state, around 7am on Friday.

A witness  said the attacker was inside a tricycle, popularly called Keke NAPEP, and detonated the bomb as she passed through the market.

“The market is called Custom market and many people are expected to have been involved in this attack,” she said.

A security source also confirmed the attack, saying five people were killed and those who sustained injuries had been rushed to the hospital.

However, Victor Isuku, police public relations officer in the state, said three persons died in the incident.

Maiduguri has been hit by several attacks in recent times.

The relocation of the military command centre to the ancient city is yet to have the desired result as the insurgents continue to raid the north-east with .
