Osinbajo takes charge as Buhari, over 20 ministers miss FEC meeting

President Muhammadu Buhari and over 20 ministers are not at the federal executive council (FEC) meeting currently holding at the council chamber of the presidential villa in Abuja.

This is the second time that the president will be absent from the meeting since he returned from a medical vacation in the UK.

The first being on April 12.

The meeting did not hold at all last week “because of Easter celebrations”, according to Lai Mohammed, information minister.

Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo arrived around 11am, apparently not knowing the he would be the one to coordinate the meeting.

Few minutes later, a protocol officer approached the number two citizen to inform him of the president’s absence.

After this, Osinbajo called for the national anthem and opening prayers, which were said by Adamu Adamu, minister of education, and Isaac Adewole, minister of health.

Journalists were later excused from the meeting.

No reason was given for the president’s absence.

TheCable tried to reach Femi Adesina and Garba Shehu, presidential spokesmen, to know have their comments, ‎but their phones were switched off.

  1. Are then to come terms with the fact that this government has now completely unraveled?! This is unprecedented, no government in the history of Nigeria has shown this level of disfunctionality, for lack of a better word. Unbelievable!
