The federal government has appointed Bayo Onanuga, editor-in-chief of TheNEWS, as the managing director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
This was disclosed on Wednesday in a statement issued by Segun Adeyemi, special adviser to Lai Mohammed, minister of information and culture.
The statement said the appointment takes immediate effect.
In all, six new chief executives have been appointed to replace those who were disengaged in some parastatals on February 15.

The other executives are: Ishaq Modibo Kawu, a Vanguard columnist, now the director-general, Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC), Mansur Liman, an editor at BBC Hausa, is the new director-general, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), and Garba Abari, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa state.
Others are: Osita Okechukwu, director-general, Voice of Nigeria (VON), and Yakubu Mohammed, director-general, of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA).
