President Muhammadu Buhari will proceed on a 10-day holiday to London on Friday.
Femi Adesina, presidential spokesman, announced this in a statement on Wednesday.
He said Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo will be in charge of the country during the period.
Adesina said the president had informed the leadership of the national assembly about his trip.

“In compliance with section 145 (1) of the 1999 constitution, a letter has been transmitted to the president of the senate, and the speaker, house of representatives to that effect,” he said.
Last year, Buhari spent a total of 152 days in London in the course of medical treatment.
His absence sparked speculations about his health but when he returned Buhari said he was prepared to continue doing the job Nigerians elected him to do.

The president’s health has been a subject of controversy as his ailment has not been disclosed.
Buhari is seeking another term next year but his opponents have asked him not to run, citing his health condition as one of the reasons.
