Aminu Tambuwal, Sokoto state governor, and Aliyu Wamakko, a serving senator and former governor of the state, on Tuesday had a one-hour discussion with President Muhammadu Buhari on matters surrounding the nomination of Aisha Abubakar as a minister from Sokoto state.
According to Imam Imam, Tambuwal’s spokesman, all issues regarding Abubakar’s nomination are being resolved at the moment.
Last week,Ibrahim Gobir, a senator representing Sokoto east, had presented a petition to the senate, saying the people of Sokoto state did not want Abubakar to take their slot in Buhari’s cabinet because she was “incompetent”.
On Sunday, the Sokoto state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) re-echoed Gobir’s statement, saying the state needed a more “competent” person to take its slot in the cabinet.

But some groups have risen in defence of Abubakar, listing a number of reasons why she should be appointed minister.
The senate committee on ethics, privileges and public petition, which investigated the accusation, did not turn up its report on the matter as expected on Tuesday.
