President Muhammadu Buhari has finally made public his asset declaration, revealing that he has less than N30 million in his only bank.

Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo also declared a bank balance of N94 million and $900,000.

“The documents submitted to the Code of Conduct Bureau, which officials say are still being vetted and will soon be made public, show that prior to being sworn in on May 29, President Buhari had less than N30 million to his name. He also had only one bank account, with the Union Bank. President Buhari had no foreign account, no factory and no enterprises. He also had no registered company and no oil wells,” Garba Shehu, presidential spokesman, said on Thursday in a statement.

Buhari “had shares in Berger Paints, Union Bank and Skye Bank”, he further said.

One of the mud houses in Daura was inherited from his late older sister, another from his late father. He borrowed money from the old Barclays Bank to build two of his homes,” he added.

“President Buhari also has two undeveloped plots of land, one in Kano and the other in Port Harcourt. He is still trying to trace the location of the Port Harcourt land.

“In addition to the homes in Daura, he has farms, an orchard and a ranch. The total number of his holdings in the farm include 270 heads of cattle, 25 sheep, five horses, a variety of birds and a number of economic trees.”

    1. If you know the allowances that are given to ex-presidents in Nigeria and the fact that he has been one for about 20 years, you would not say that. There is need to review all allowances given to all public servants. Nigeria is being robbed.

    2. Why talk like this? This is a man who gets pension from Military and from presidency. so I 30m too small or too big

  1. How much is 30million that he cannot have it? Do you know how long he has been an ex president and didn’t you just see that he has cattles? Do you know how lucrative that business is? If all he has is actually 30million,then he’s a prudent Nigerian

  2. Although this has been long in coming, you have to say it is a good beginning. We now need to go the next step: Those who have specifics contrary to what has been made public should come forward with facts.

  3. OK lets comment on VP who has #94m & shareholding in 6 PRIVATE companies incl MTN (Isiteasy?) and a house in bedford England(google BEDFORD neighbourhud). and he was a PASTOR at REDEEM (offering money).

    1. He is more than anything else a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN). Do you know what that means? Ask any SAN how much they charge to handle a governoship election petition, you Sani will faint. He owns a law firm which is earning turns of money in his absence. He is also a Prof. Unfortunately, you won’t understand because you got admitted into unity school with 2 marks. As a Pastor he actually gives out his time and talent instead of receiving. Think before posting any nonsense again

    2. sani how is his affairs your business? If you are not sure of the validity of your accusations, keep quite! And what’s your concern with “offering money” as you put it if your N5 didn’t enter his offering basket. Are you more righteous? Nigerians need to stop being judgmental as that keeps them more in the dark. We need to focus on what really matters and not display pure stupidity further exposing our ignorance. Hope you got the message wise man! Selah!

  4. I believe them. I have never been in doubt as to Buhari,s cleanliness and let him show no mercy to these million/billion money rogues. People must come to terms that not up to 50% of looted money can be repatriated for obvious reasons.

  5. This is a welcome development, I can only say, may God in His infinite mercy guide our Leaders right to make the CHANGE we have been yearning for. Anybody that has contrary opinion should come forward with a valid evidences. God bless Nigeria.

  6. Believing them is as same as me believing of a life after death. It’s all gibberish and lies! Just do what you know to be cool and leave the rest to providence. It’s never a must for one to declare his or her assets. So why lie about it trying to prove nothing. Shame!

  7. That is really a shame to have people talk like this if a good leader. Are you aware he is a law professor? Former lecturer, chief justice of a state, wrote books, practiced and still practising law and above all a pastor after God’s heart. What he has is in fact small. Bradford house is even on a mortgage. If this man decides to only practice law at his level he should be more wealthy as he ranks in the highest level of the profession so let’s be careful before commenting so we don’t display our ignorance too much

  8. Unlike our leaders who stole to develop Dubai, which is not their own country, thank God for having Buhari as our leader, the agent of corruption among us will not trust him, because cheater can not trust anybody.

    1. My own concern are about the Legislators & GEJ that worth billions of dollars. Have they declared their own assets too? What about GEJ assets declaration when leaving office? The code of conduct activities is not limited to assets declaration when assuming office alone but includes assets declaration when leaving office. How come no one is talking about assets declared when leaving office? #declare former president GEJ assets after leaving office as required by law. At a point, GEJ claimed he was not the richest African man, yet we are yet to see his declared assets after 8yrs in office.
On the Vice President, only those that do not know his professional and business status will doubt his worth. An SAN handling or might have handled big cases, Professor of Law with international consultation, Owing of Law Firm. Please, the leaders are God sent to change our Country.
#Code of conduct should publish former president GEJ after after 8 years in office

  9. It seems some Nigerians can’t stand or understand truth any more. The fact is that they have been lied to for so long that even when the truth stares them in the face they don’t know how to deal with it.

  10. Well done to the President and the VP that are sincere enough to declare their assets. For a retired general, former head of state, N30m is even too small for him to have, even based on the fact that inheritance is included in the assests. Does any of those who comment negatively, pray to have only N30m at the Presidents age without stealing or embezzling? For the VP, his asset is also too low. Both men to have such amounts means they are prudent and very truthful in life. Its only enemy of change that antagonises the President and VP’s assets. When GEJ refuses to declare his assets, what has anyone of them say about it?

  11. I wonder why people are agitating that BUHARI must publish his assets declaration in public, now that BABA did so, they have started another useless comment, well that is how they will end up, Nigeria sai BABA if u like go and hung a transformer. BUSY body

  12. The immediate past president once declared “I don’t give a damn” when asked to declare his assets. Now the incumbent has declared his assets publicly yet Nigerians still complain. Now I see the resoning pattern of many Nigerians. Rather retrogressive and always looking to bring right thinking leaders down while the looters go scot free

  13. But what baffles me is why our VP should have more cash in dollars than the naira. is he planning to elope when the going gets tough??

  14. Theres an undeveloped plot in cross rivers state calabar in buhari’s name was it confusd wit rivers state; portharcourt, everybody in my area knows he owns it (its at 8miles;calabar)

    1. He mentioned this in the papers. Check TheGuardian front page of today (Sept. 4), is indicated. Haa! may God safe us from this bad belle pple. God will have mercy on u

  15. I am humbled by this man and his leadership style. Whether he declares a pin or hundred pins…. he is a great leader because a journey of a thousand miles begins with a step! This is what I see as we are moving forward Nigeria!!!

  16. I believe in Buhari and I pray that God will use him like He used Rowling of Ghana to bring sanity to our country Nigeria. God will help him to leave no stone unturned. In the bible God used Cyrus to rebuild Jerusalem. God will use MON if we pray for him not criticize. Remember the bible says ‘life and death are in the power of the tongue, they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof’. Whatever you expect from this govt that’s what you’ll get.
