President Muhammadu Buhari has re-appointed Boss Mustapha as secretary to the government of the federation (SGF).
The president has also renewed the appointment of Abba Kyari, his chief of staff.
Garba Shehu, presidential spokesman, announced this in a statement on Friday.
“President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the re-appointment of Mr Boss Mustapha as Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), and Malam Abba Kyari as Chief of Staff (COS) to the President,” the statement read.

“Both appointments take effect from May 29, 2019.”
This is among the appointments the president has made since he began his second term.
Two days ago, the president reappointed Sunday Aghaeze, his personal assistant on photography.

The appointment, according to a letter signed by Boss, took effect from May 29.
Aghaeze was first appointed in 2016 by the president to the same post, where he served till his reappointment.
The Coalition of the United Political Parties (CUPP) had lamented the delay of the president in making fresh appointments, saying some of Buhari’s aides were staying in office illegally.
It had listed Kyari and Mustapha among those working without their appointments being renewed, saying it had filed a suit to challenge it.

Chief of Staff is neither a constitutional or statutory appointment so a suit would be a waste of time. It is a position copied from America but in Nigeria, this so called office with no defined functions has become the most powerful after the president/governor.
