President Muhammadu Buhari has relieved Joseph Dawha of his appointment as Group Managing Director (GMD) of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).
Emmanuel Kachikwu, executive vice-chairman of ExxonMobil Africa, has been appointed to take over from Dawah.
Buhari also appointed Umaru Danbatta as the new executive vice chairman and chief executive of the Nigerian Communications Commission.
Danbatta, who holds a doctorate degree in Electronic Engineering, takes over from Eugene Juwah, whose tenure expired on July 29, 2015.

Kachikwu, a trained lawyer, was born and raised in Onicha Ugbo in Aniocha north local government area of Delta state.
Former president, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan appointed Dawha on August 1, 2014, after dismissing Andrew Yakubu.
Dawha was born in Biu, Borno state, on March 29, 1954 and holds a Bsc (1977) and a Master’s degree (1985) in chemical engineering.

He started his career in NNPC in 1988.
NNPC has been enmeshed in corruption allegations over the years and has come under barrage of criticisms in recent times.
Buhari dissolved the corporation’s board in June and the National Executive Council (NEC) has set up a panel to probe the NNPC.
