Channels TV goes off-air as staff close Lagos office

Journalists and staff of Channels Television left the Lagos office on Wednesday as a precaution in the event of a mob attack.

The station went went off-air.

A member of staff of the TV station who spoke with TheCable said he did not know the condition of the office because everyone had to flee the premises.

This is the second media house that has gone off-air after TV Continental was attacked by a mob on Wednesday morning.

Tope Mark-Odigie, a TVC anchor, in an Instagram video, said the station was attacked by some hoodlums.

She said the policemen stationed in the area took to their heels on seeing the mob.

Hoodlums have unleashed attacks on Nigerians protesting against police brutality and visiting violence on security formations.

There has been a general breakdown of law and order in Lagos.

Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Lagos state governor, imposed a 24-hour curfew on Tuesday.

  1. It is locally and internationally shameful on the Government of Nigeria that simple cry and needs of the youths cannot be met by their own Government that having existed for 60 fucking years!

    This is a symbolic scene in Nigeria marking the evidence that the leaders had long exhausted their era of unruly and nonsensical governing. In all forms ranging from the legislative, to Judiciary, and to executive, Nigeria needs totally a new phase!!

    I will advice us the youths to exert of our energies at this point in time more on social media, let’s make more use of international hashtags. We cannot suffer another lose of life please…

    Nigeria must be reformed!!!
