Collation officer shot in Benue

Unknown gunmen have shot Comfort Tuluem, the collation officer for Gboko local government area of Benue state.

Tuluem, a lecturer at the University of Agriculture, Benue, was attacked on her way to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) head office in Markurdi, the state capital, on Saturday night.

TheCable gathered that the incident happened on the Markurdi-Gboko road. The attackers reportedly fired at the vehicle conveying Tuluem to the collation center and the bullet hit her on the leg.

She was taken to the hospital immediately. Benue is one of five states where supplementary governorship election is ongoing.

There were incidents of violence in the state during the election.

Suspected thugs had attacked electoral officials and political party agents on their way to Chito Adzendechi council ward, headquarters of Ukum local government area of the state on Saturday morning.

They had seized and set electoral materials, preventing over 13,000 voters in the ward from participating in the exercise.

  1. People who have things to offer are never desperate. It’s always the No-Do-Wells with nothing good to offer and no other ambition than free government money, who would want power at all cost and go to any length to get it. Including wasting lives they know they can never create. So SAD!
