Court stops PDP reps from convening

Justice Ahmed Ramat Mohammed of a federal high court in Abuja has stopped Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmakers from reopening the federal house of representatives before the December 3, 2014 date of adjournment agreed upon last week.

The judge asked the parties to maintain the status quo till Friday November 7, 2014.

The judge asked Tambuwal and APC to serve the defendants with the motion on notice and ordered the defendants to come and show cause why all the reliefs being sought by Tambuwal and APC should not be granted.

The status quo would be that the adjournment by Tambuwal stands.

After plenary on October 28, Tambuwal adjourned till December 3 before quickly announcing his “membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC)“.

PDP lawmakers have been holding meetings with the hierarchy of  the party towards prematurely reconvening the house in order to begin the process of moving against the speaker.
