England thrash Spain 5-2 to win U17 World Cup

The Young Lions of England have defeated Spain 5-2 to win the U17 FIFA World Cup at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata.

England came from two goals down to win the tournament, after dominating the second half from start to finish.

Barcelona’s Sergio Gomes opened the scoring for Spain in the 10th minute. He would later double his country’s lead in the 31st minute.

Rhian Brewster got England back in the game from a Ryan Sessegnon cross in the 44th minute.

Gibbs-White tapped in England’s equaliser from the centre of the box in the 58th minute.

Phil Foden made it 3-2 in the 70th minute while Marc Guehi netted from close range for England’s fourth in the 84th minute.

Foden scored his second goal of the game to complete the rout in the 88th minute.
