The popular Sabon-Gari market in Kano, Kano state, was hit by a fire incident very early on Saturday morning.
According to a witness who spoke with TheCable, the fire, which has been raging for hours, did not spare a bank located inside the market.
NAN also quoted a witness as saying the fire started around 12:30am, razing the entire footwear section of the market.
When contacted, Mustapha Rulwan, director of the state fire service, confirmed the tragedy, saying rescue workers were still trying to salvage the situation.
