Four more Ebola patients discharged

Four patients undergoing treatment for the deadly Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) have been discharged, minister of health, Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu, has confirmed.

Those discharged on Monday, according to the minister, included two male medical doctors and a female nurse.

Announcing the development, Chukwu said the discharged patients had been managed successfully and were now disease-free.

“It includes two male medical doctors and one female nurse. The three participated in the treatment of the index case while the fourth person was a female patient at the time the index case was on admission,” he said.

“This brings to five the total number of patients diagnosed with Ebola Virus Disease who have now been discharged from hospital.”

On Saturday, a female doctor was discharged, having also been certified Ebola-free.

However, there are at least two other Ebola patients, with one in critical condition.

Three Nigerians have died of the virus  all people who had contact with the index case, Liberian-American Patrick Sawyer.
