Gamaliel Onosode dies at 82

Gamaliel Onosode (pictured, right) frontline industrialist, technocrat and administrator, has died at the age of 82.

Ese Onosode, his son, confirmed this in a statement, saying he died at 8:15 am on Tuesday.

A technocrat and administrator, the octogenarian was a former presidential candidate of the All Nigeria People’s Party. He was also a former presidential adviser to President Shagari and a former president of the Nigerian Institute of Management.

He attended Government College, Ughelli and the University of Ibadan.

In his lifetime, Onosode rose to become a leading boardroom player in Nigeria’s corporate environment.

At different periods, he served as the chairman, Airtel Nigeria, Cardbury, Dunlop and board member of several organisations.

Onosode also occupied the office of the pro-chancellor of the University of Ibadan, University of Uyo and University of Lagos and Bowen University, Osun.
