The senate has passed for first reading a bill to establish grazing reserves for cattle across the country.
The bill, which was sponsored by Rabiu Kwankwaso, a senator from Kano central, is titled ‘National Grazing Reserves Agency Bill, 2016’.
It was read the first time at the senate on Wednesday.
A similar bill had scaled second reading in the house of representatives, stirring controversy and public outcry.

The bill is coming at time that there have been reports of attacks by herdsmen across the country.
The killings in Nimbo, Enugu state and Agatu in Benue state, are some of the recent reported attacks.

Most of our senators said there’s nothing like Grazing Bill in the Senate, even the DSP said so, alas! the bill has passed the first reading. This is so unfortunate and deceitful.
It is becoming quite clear that Mr. Integrity has a clear divine agenda which he just cannot abandon.
He is really making progress in taking Nigeria to the Promised Land, as he seems not to have anything to lose any more.
