Gunmen attack convoy of Emir of Kaura Namoda

Gunmen have reportedly attacked the convoy of Sanusi Muhammad, Emir of Kaura Namoda in Zamfara state, killing eight people on his entourage. 

According to Channels TV, the attack happened on Thursday night while the Emir was on his way back from Abuja.

Three of his police security were said to have been shot dead as well as five other people.

Usman Nagogo, Zamfara state commissioner of police, was said to have confirmed the incident in Katsina state on Friday.

There has been a spike in the activities of bandits in the north-west recently.

Last Friday, over 300 schoolboys were abducted from Government Science Secondary, Kankara in Katsina.

The schoolboys were released on Thursday — after spending nearly seven days in captivity.
