Herdsmen invade Soyinka’s residence

Suspected herdsmen have invaded the residence of Wole Soyinka, renowned playwright and professor, in Ogun state.

The scholar disclosed this on Friday while speaking at a forum in Freedom Park, Lagos.

“We are living in dangerous times. My home is under invasion… From Imeko to Abeokuta is under invasion by herdsmen,” he said.

“This is a deliberate act of provocation. The trespasses have been frequent, we have reported to the police, but government is taking security lightly. We need to wake up the government, let them know the seriousness of the issue on ground; these herdsmen are worse than Boko Haram.”

Soyinka, who said the mentality of herdsmen had changed, advised government to use drone in tracking them.

He also opposed the establishment of grazing reserves, saying that would worsen the problem.

“Creating corridor for cattle grazing will compound the problem, I do not think that is the solution,” he said.

  1. Our law enforcement agencies should take appropriate action against any deviant behavior. No favouritism.

  2. invasion…? Come on!
The Fulani should deny these stories OR ask for pictorial evidence. I pity the Fulani as they are always being accused without reason and they could not fire back!!!

    1. Hamza, how did you arrive at this conclusion? Is it as a result of an investigation you conducted? Or it’s buoyed by the same arrogance that has reduced the rest of us to endangered species in a country that was supposedly ours? Count yet not your chicks, the hen still quacks.

  3. Fulani Herdsmen, Boko Haram or such other unscrupulous elected of the society are the fault of the society which enables them.

Let the society find a way to force the Government to use Nigerian Armed Forces-the Military, Air Firce, Navy and other Federal Arsenal to eradicate these human rights abusers.

Stop enabling corruption Nigerians. It’s your land, your government and your families.
