Jonathan NOT READY to speak on armsgate

Former President Goodluck Jonathan says the time is not yet appropriate for him to react to the allegations that his government abused funds meant for the procurement of arms.

The current administration has launched a probe, which led to the arrest of Sambo Dasuki, former national security adviser (NSA), and some officials of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

They were accused of diverting security funds for Jonathan’s reelection campaign and there have been pressure on the ex-president to speak out over this.

But in series of messages on his Twitter handle, Jonathan, who at the moment is in Geneva, Switzerland, where he is holding a press conference, said he would react to the issue when the time is ripe.

“My voice will certainly be heard at the appropriate time regarding the alleged arms funds mismanagement,” he tweeted.

“I would not want to interfere with the proceeding by the judicial system that my administration worked tirelessly to strengthen.

“My post presidential focus is advancing democracy and good governance in Africa. If we do not spend billions to educate Africa’s youths today, we will spend it fighting insecurity tomorrow.”

The tweets are most likely parts of his speech at the conference.

  1. Your Excellency sir,
As much as l agree with you in relation to the current development on Dasukigate. it is importantant that the “subject” be addressed to bring the matter to a total closure.
    Barr. Franklin Nwakor

    1. Jonathan is NOT the present leadership who discusses issues in court on media, and preempts judgments, which is wrong in any sane society. Jonathan would congratulate whoever INEC declares winner and also congratulates anyone one the courts clear. Our boss today does the opposite. Apart from one being a PhD holder and the other a PHCN Bill holder, that is the BIG difference them!

    2. Barrister Nwakor how can you bring closure to a case that has not been tried in court? And you are supposed to be a barrister? Nigeria is just a huge mess!!! When I see post like yours, from someone who should know then there is really no hope for Nigeria. It’s fine to say ”it’s well million’ a million times and continue to bury our heads in the sand like the ostrich but that won’t change a thing. I am in shock!!!

      1. Im in shock too.
the prosecution can only win their case with evidence. whether the former president speaks on not. how does that help the accused if the prosecution has concrete evidence

  2. Jonathan is not the problem nigeria have now, is buhari he did know were to start because we need who hando nineria with understanding n jonathan is not the judg let court takecare of that
