The four kingmakers in Kano are set to announce the successor of Muhammadu Sanusi who was dethroned as emir of Kano earlier on Monday.
A source disclosed this to TheCable on Monday, saying a new king will be appointed in a few hours.
Abdullahi Ganduje, governor of Kano, had approved the removal of Sanusi who was accused of disrespecting his office.
After Sanusi was removed, he was reportedly placed under house arrest while security was beefed up at the palace.

Earlier on Monday, lawmakers in the Kano assembly were divided over the petition of financial misappropriation levelled against the former emir.
Defending his action, Ganduje said Sanusi was removed in the interest of the state and to preserve the culture of Kano.
