Suspected members of the Boko Haram sect struck in Maiduguri, capital of Borno state, on Tuesday, killing seven people.
A security source confirmed the attack to TheCable but said he did not have details.
“I don’t have the full information now but the attacks happened, that I am very sure of and lives were involved,” he said.
Sani Usman, army spokesman, later confirmed the incident, saying seven people were killed and 11 person sustained injuries.

“There were triple suspected borne improvised explosive device explosions at Ajilari, Maiduguri Metropolitan Council,” he told TheCable.
“The explosives occurred at three minutes interval, and seven people confirmed dead, including the three suicide terrorists, while 11 others sustained various degrees of injuries.”
Boko Haram has continued to attack soft targets in the north-east despite the efforts of the government to put an end to the activities of the sect.

Borno has been the state most devastated by attacks from insurgents, most of them happening in Maiduguri.
The latest of such occurred on October 1 and about 14 persons were killed, while 39 sustained injuries in the incident.
President Muhammadu Buhari has given the military a deadline of December to stamp out insurgency.
