The sect leader was said to have “made unguarded statements against Prophet Mohammed last week”, during his usual preaching at Goron Dutse General area of Kano metropolis.

The aggrieved youths marched towards Mandawari and Dandago area, and later to the palace of the emir of Kano to make their complaints.

The youths were joined by old Muslim men and women who demanded for Nyassect’s punishment according to Islamic laws.

  1. Managing dissent in a New Nigeria:
The incoming government has enjoyed the support of the youth in unseating the PDP hegemony.

Now the same group will need to be engaged and/or confronted when protest mutates into violence. Will they have the courage?
