The National Confab has been suspended for the rest of the week, following the death of Maryam Kutigi, wife of Confab Chairman and former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Idris Legbo Kutigi.
Maryam, 70, died at the National Hospital, Abuja, in the wee small hours of Wednesday.
She will be buried today, in line with Islamic rites.
Vice Chairman of the Conference, Prof Bolaji Akinyemi, announced Maryam’s passing on resumption of plenary on Wednesday, saying prayers would be offered for the repose of the deceased at the National Mosque, after which she would be interred, in consonance with Islamic rites.

The National Judicial Institute, venue of the confab, was scantily populated on Wednesday morning.
“The mood at the institute is gloomy,” a delegate told TheCable anonymously. “Attention will shift to the burial for the rest of the day, and we delegates will reconvene on Monday.
As tomorrow, May 29, 2014, is Democracy Day, and the confab doesn’t meet on Fridays, the delegates will now reconvene on Monday, June 02, 2014.
