Nigeria’s coronavirus toll rises to 135 — 4 new cases recorded

Nigeria has recorded four new coronavirus cases bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 135.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced this in a tweet on Monday.

This is coming less than 24 hours after the country recorded 20 new cases.

According to the NCDC, three of the new cases are in Osun state, while one is in Ogun state.

“Four new cases of #COVID19 have been reported in Nigeria; 3 in Osun and 1 in Ogun As at 11:15 am 31st March there are 135 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria with 2 deaths,” the tweet read.

Of the 135 confirmed cases, Lagos state has 81, FCT has 25, and Oyo has eight cases.

Osun has five cases, Ogun has four, Kaduna has three, while Edo, Enugu, and Bauchi states have two cases each.

Ekiti, Rivers and Benue states have recorded one case each.

On Monday, Nigeria recorded a second death from the virus.

Suleiman Achimugu, a former managing director of the Petroleum Products Marketing Company (PPMC), died of the disease and was Nigeria’s first fatality.

Globally, over 700,000 cases of coronavirus have been recorded with at least 38,000 deaths from disease.
