A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by Jerry Gana has held a parallel convention in Abuja.

This is coming just as the main body of the party led by Ali Modu Sheriff is holding a similar exercise in Port Harcourt.

Although, TheCable understands that the Port Harcourt convention may be cancelled.

Party leaders and governors elected on the platform of the party are currently meeting to take a decision on whether to continue the exercise or not.

But the Gana-led faction on Saturday concluded its non-elective convention with a resolution to conduct an elective one soon.

The decision of the faction to hold a non-elective exercise was due to a court order stopping election into some of the principal offices.

Some of the party’s chieftains present at the Abuja convention include Ibrahim Mantu, former deputy senate president; Bala Mohammed, former minister of the federal capital territory (FCT), and Doyin Okupe, former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan.
